Southern blot analysis of C. cohnii mtDNA with ³² P-labelled probes specific for mitochondrial gene and flanking regions. A fraction enriched in mtDNA was either untreated ('U') or EcoRI hydrolysed ('E') and the products separated by gel electrophoresis. Blots were hybridized with probes specific for cob, cob-flanking sequences ('cb1' and 'cb3'), cox3 or LSUG ('rnl') (see Figure 1 for probe locations). Size markers are indicated to the left in kb pairs.
