Table 1 Prion infection increased the amounts of free cholesterol in neuronal cell lines. The amounts of total cholesterol, free cholesterol and esterified cholesterol (ng cholesterol/mg protein) in extracts from prion infected neuronal cells (ScN2a or ScGT1 cells) compared with their non-infected counterparts (N2a or GT1 cells).
